Section [1]Stafford Guard
[1.a] Command Structure


First officer: The Duke
Second officers: Captain, Field Marshal
Third officer: Sergeant (Staff)
Township Command: Petty Officer
Troop Command: Corporals (Infantry), Lance-Corporals (Cavalry)
Troops: Levee, Levee Pikeman, Man-at-Arms, Billman, Squire, Knight

[1.b] The Stafford Guard is led by the Captain and Field Marshal under the command of the currently acting Duke and his Council.

[1.c] Each township will have a single Petty Officer selected by the acting Captain or Field Marshal from the existing Corporals and Lance Corporals. The Petty Captain will hold responsibility over all the town Lances and Squads as well as retain their own Squad/Lance. They are responsible for the fortnightly reports and assignation of patrols.

[1.d] Each Cavalry Lance is a group of 7 Lancers (Squires, Knights) and an IG Lord acting as Lance-Corporal.

[1.d] Each Infantry Squad is a group of 4 soldiers (Men-at-Arms, Billmen) and a Corporal acting as the Squad leader..

[1.e] Corporals/Lance Corporals are assigned by the acting Petty Officer and given command of a respective Squad/Lance. The Corporal must meet the requirements of the senior rank in their unit. ie. Billmen for a Squad or Knight for a Lance.

[1.f] Stafford Guard High Command

Captain
The Captain, with agreement of the Field Marshal, has final tactical command over the army and its movements and is the only Councilor with the authority to give commands to military units. However, (s)he does not have the right to declare war or engage in any kind of offensive action without prior approval from the current acting Duke and his Council. The Count may appoint and remove the current Captain from office. The Field Marshal may call for the removal of the Captain from office should the need arise. A simple disagreement does not mean the need to remove the co-officer from office; it must be proven that the officer is acting in opposition to the best interests of the army and/or the county.

Field Marshal
The Field Marshal, with agreement of the Captain, has final tactical command over the army and its movements, and is the only appointed official with the authority to give command to military units. The Field Marshal is nominated through a vote by the Petty Captains (simple majority) and is approved by Council. This office-holder does not change with a change in council. The current acting Count may remove the Field Marshal from office should the need arise and call for nomination of a new Field Marshal. The Captain may call for the removal of the Field Marshal from his office should the need arise. A simple disagreement does not mean the need to remove the co-officer from office; it must be proven that the officer is acting in opposition to the best interests of the army and/or the county.

Sergeant
The Sergeant is charged with running any armament programs in the development of the guard, if he requires goods he is to be authorised by the current acting Duke and the current acting Trade Minister.

Sheriff
Works with the Sergeant in the payment of the troops and suppliment of weapons and meat, if he deems necessary and/or affordable to the county.

Section [2] Internal Town structure and ranks

[2.a] Leeve Footmen
The Leeve Footmanry is reccomended for new players to see if they can actively engage in the workings of the guard and will continue to play RK. It will aso give them a feel for what the guard has to offer. Levee units are led by a Corporal.

[i]Requirements: 15 Days of Service, 10 SP, Equipped with a shaft at the minimum


[2.b] Professional Infantry
Professional Infantry are led by a Corporal. Squads consist of four Men-at-Arms along with Billmen and led by a Corporal who has matching requirements of the Billman. These Troops are experienced, active and tough. Forming the core of the County's guard.

* Man-at-Arms
Requirements: 45 days of Service, 50 SP, 5 action points, Equiped with a shaft and shield at the minimum
* Billman
Requirements: 60 days of service, 100 SP, 8 action points, Equiped with a shaft and shield at the minimum

[2.c] Cavalry
Cavalry are led by an IG Lord apointed as a Lance-Corporal. The Squad consists of eight men and a Lance Corporal These troops are the best of the best, very experienced and very well equipped. They can deal with any serious trouble.

* Squire
Requirements: 75 days of service, 150 SP, 10 action points, Equiped with a sword and shield at the minimum
* Knight
Requirements: 90 days of service, 200 SP, 14 action points, Equiped with a sword and shield at the minimum

[2.d] The usual method of ranking is postponed till the County has completed a week long recruitment. Ranks will be given disregarding the service time.

[2.e] Every Trooper is to report their stats to their Corporal/Lance-Corporal once every fortnight, their Corporal or if they are under direct command of the Petty Captain then they report to him.

[2.f] Skirmishers
There are plans to recruit Skirmishers in the Stafford Guard, they will bear no rank and be charged with spying, harassment, rebellion and robbery in enemy territroy during times of conflict. They shall be recruited from IG Lords that are not in command of a Cavalry Lance.

Section [3] Staff & Supplies

[3.a] Will be under the authority of the current acting Sergeant.

[3.b] Will include butchers, weavers and blacksmiths who are members of the Stafford Guard.

[3.c] Will be responsible for the collection and distribution of meat, weapons and shields to soldiers.

[3.d] Payment of troops and purchase of weapons and shields will be handled by the Sergeant under authorization of the current acting Duke and the current acting Trade Minister.

Section [4] Duties


[4.a] Petty Captains will need to review their troops each fortnight and obtain current strength and charisma of each soldier under their command from their respective Corporals/Lance Corporals.

[4.b] Petty Captains will then need to file a report on pending promotions, pending decorations, town status, new recruits, current individual stats of each soldier under him and forward it to the Captain.

[4.c] Corporals/Lance-Corporals are in charge of organising the patrols and complying with the Petty Captain's orders as well as collecting Strength, Charisma and Equipment of each of thier soldiers and forwarding it to the Petty Captain.

[4.c] Each promotion and decoration will be made official by an announcement from the township's Petty Captain (Once aproved by the Captain). The Captain will however make the promotion of a Petty Officer. Knights will be knighted by the current acting Duke (or a suitable replacement).

Section[6] Action Points

[6.a] Patrol: 1 action point for every 2 days of patrol

[6.b] Revolts/Counter revolts: 1 action point for every successful authorized revolt/counter-revolt

[6.c] Staff program actions: 1 action point for every 2 days of meat/weapon/shield production at minimum wage

[6.d] Recruitment: 1 action point for every 5 members recruited to the Stafford Guard

[6.e] Role-play action: 1 action point for successful participation in RPs organized by the Stafford Guard

[6.f] Action points can also be attributed as special recognition for services rendered to the Stafford Guard

Section [7] Insubordination

[7.a] In the case of refusal to obey orders in a state of war the soldier may be brought before a council consisting of the High Command and the Petty Captains to be judged.

[7.b] If a soldier is found guilty of a crime in the county of Stafford he will be discharged without trial.

[7.c] If a soldier is readmitted in the Stafford Guard after expulsion, he will NOT regain his previous rank.

[7.d] Failure by any soldier to report to town commanders for 2 consecutive weeks without a proper explanation will lead to demotion or expulsion from the Stafford Guard.
